6 Great Fall Boating Destinations

Posted on September 9, 2018May 3, 2020

With the mornings starting to feel like fall with the crisp air and morning dew, it’s time to plan your fall boating destinations. Anchoring in a quiet bay, enjoying the fewer boats out on the water is always a great option, but here’s six great destinations to consider.

1 – Salt Spring Fall Fair September 15th – 16th

destinations

Sail to Salt Spring and enjoy a quintessential gulf island fall fair. Sample Salt Spring Island lamb, view the cute bunnies and chickens, and peruse the baked good competition. The fair has a free shuttle bus leaving from downtown Ganges, making it super simple to dock or anchor in Ganges. Salt Spring Island is a great fall boating destination, while you’re there play a game of disc golf.

2 – Wine Women and Wheels III September 16th

Cruise to Mill Bay Marina and spend Sunday afternoon at Enrico Winery. Enjoy the afternoon listening to music, viewing vintage cars with some wine tasting and food. Throw the bikes onboard for a short bike ride to the winery, or call a taxi for the short 4km to the winery.

3 – Working Boat Festival September 22nd – 23rd

Take advantage of the Working Boat rendezvous in Ganges and spend Saturday afternoon viewing beautiful working boats from our west coast, or their sailpast departure on Sunday.

4 – Salt Spring Island Apple Festival September 30th

Enjoy a day on Salt Spring sampling various apple delights, from cider to baked treats. Throw your bikes on the boat, or meet up with friends with a car and explore the island for the day. The Salt Spring Island Apple Festival is growing in popularity and is a great island event.

5 – Dungeness Crab & Seafood Festival October 5th – 7th

Swap the turkey this year and sail over to Port Angeles Washington and enjoy their Dungeness Crab and Seafood Festival. Organize a rendezvous with friends or just take the family, the turkey dinner can always be there for Christmas.

6 – Sip & Savour Salt Spring October 20th

Enjoy a culinary adventure and spend the day taking in all that Salt Spring Island has to offer. Spend your morning perusing their infamous Saturday market, pick up a little something for yourself, or start your Christmas shopping. Once you’ve exhausted yourself at the market,  take the free shuttle bus to the Famers Institute and spend the afternoon relaxing grazing on all that the Gulf Islands and Vancouver Island has to offer. Purchase tickets here to this great event.

Enjoy your fall boating!
