Forget the crowds, Dionisio Point Provincial Park on the north tip of Galiano Island is one of the best beaches in the Gulf Islands. This beach is absolutely gorgeous, and as it faces the Straight of Georgia, the water is actually swimmable!
This beach is passed regularly by boaters going through Porlier Pass, but as it’s marine access only and doesn’t offer great anchorage, this beach is largely visited by powerboats and kayaks. Dionisio Point Provincial Park does offer walk-in no trace camping, so it’s a great kayak camping destination too. Dionisio Point is a fantastic destination beach on hot days as you will likely only have to share the beach with a handful of people. With the beach on the east side of the island, the Strait of Georgia also brings crashing waves reminding you of your beach vacations in Mexico and the Dominican Republic.
Dionisio Point has a gorgeous shoreline with sculpted sandstone formations, a sandy beach for swimming and suntanning, tidal pools and offers short walking trails to stretch your legs. This beach is a great tender trip from Clam Bay. With a 8hp outboard, it’s less than a 20 minute tender trip, boat to beach. Dionisio Point offers a great sandy beach to pull your dinghy up on, you’ll just need to bring a long line to tie your tender to shore depending where the tide is.
This beach has been on my bucket for quite some time and it wasn’t a disappointment, I can easily say that this beach gives serious competition to Sidney Spit and Cabbage Island and is one of the top beaches in the Gulf Islands.
